SOJA is number one

CATCH DI RIDDIM

American band SOJA debuts at number one on the Billboard Reggae Album chart with Amid the Noise and Haste.

The 13-track set is their sixth album. It sold 12,213 copies in its first week and has also done well on other Billboard listings.

Amid the Noise and Haste entered the Independent Album chart at number two; number nine on the Digital Album chart; and number 20 on the 200 Album chart.

SOJA’s previous studio effort, 2012’s Strength to Survive, sold 12,315 copies in its first week and also topped the Billboard Reggae Album chart.

To date that set has sold over 60,000 copies.

Produced by Jamaican Dwayne ‘Supa Dups’ Chin-Quee, Amid the Noise and Haste was released on August 12 by ATO Records.

Gage learns to Whine and Pedal

Deejay Gage is featured on the remix of Canada-based dancehall artiste Razor B’s latest recording, Wine and Pedal.

“DJ Kitt and I are like brothers and he just happens to be Gage’s personal DJ. He connected me with Cornelius Daley who is Gage’s manager. He heard the song and the rest is history,” said Razor B.

Wine and Pedal is produced by a Canadian team known as GO7. David Neale co-produced the remix.

Razor B (real name Roger Cassup) is originally from Waterford in Portmore, St Catherine. He is on a musical high, having scored two big hits in Wine and Stop (produced by GO7) and We Party.

He was recently in Jamaica promoting his new EP Bruk Wild.

Another glistening Reggae Gold

Reggae Gold 2014, the latest in the popular compilation series from VP Records, debuts at number four on the Billboard Reggae Album chart.

It has consistently been one of the top-selling reggae compilations. A number of songs from Reggae Gold have crossed over to the American mainstream. These include Sean Paul’s Gimmie Di Light, Girls Dem Sugar by Beenie Man and Mya, Son of a B by Lady Saw and Marsha, and Give it to Her by Tanto Metro and Devonte.

Some of Reggae Gold 2014’s songs are Watch out for this (Bumaye) by Major Lazer; Truck on Di Road by Bunji Garlin, Jack Hammer by QQ, So Mi Like it by Spice, Want Dem all by Sean Paul and Konshens, Fighter by Damian Marley featuring Cham and Soul Provider by Romain Virgo.
