J’can Walton to lead CCC in Super-50
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) –Jamaica’s wicketkeeper/batsman Chadwick Walton will lead the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) for the WICB Super-50 Championship starting next week in Trinidad and Tobago.
Walton, a member of the West Indies team which travelled to South Africa for the three Test series, will skipper a 14-man squad that features seven Jamaican cricketers.
He turned down a contract to represent Jamaica in the first-class season due to his studies, and was not part of the Professional Cricket League draft.
Walton, 29, who represented CCC in the last first-class season, and was one of their leading scorers with 439 runs, which included a century and four
half-centuries.
The other Jamaicans on the squad are Cassius Burton, James McDonald, Paul Palmer, Christopher Powell, Rovman Powell, and Shacaya Thomas.
The CCC will play alongside defending champions Barbados Pride, Guyana Jaguars and Windward Islands Volcanoes in the Super-50, which runs January 13-26.
