Speaking my mind again: the notion by those who worship at the feet of Andrew Holness that what is taking place inside the Jamaica Labour Party is JLP’s business and people should leave it alone, shows the abject ignorance and illiteracy of many of those with the right to vote.

The last time I checked, Andrew Holness was the leader of the Opposition and he seemingly thinks that under his leadership the JLP can win the next election, well news flash for the diehard supporters – that makes it Jamaica’s business.

The notion that no one should dare to speak or ask questions reeks of hypocrisy and just blatant disregard for the constitution.

Jamaicans under the constitution have the right to have their opinions and air their views as it relates to those who call themselves politicians, who work for the people. I suspect that those who seemingly have a need to silence voices who dare to speak up and speak out, have yet to even know that the constitution exists, much less to know what it entails. So politically ignorant are they that they think in silencing the voices of those who dare to speak, that the issues will go away.

Sad to say, these people are their own worst enemies and they do not even know it. Jamaica is a democracy. Jamaica is not a country where people do not have the right to question their public officials and demand answers, matter of fact, were Jamaicans doing more of that and less of the hero worship, the country would not be in the mess in which it is.

Any person who takes up office and swears to not only protect but abide by the laws of the constitution and errs, needs to answer to every single Jamaican, whether they are JLP, PNP, NDM or no party.

You do not swear to things if you are not able to comprehend what they mean. Therefore, those who seem to think that anyone asking questions of Mr Holness or demanding answers from him means that they hate him, that is solely their ignorance that is allowing them to come to that conclusion.

Those who support Andrew are no more JLP or Jamaican than those who do not, and quite frankly, those who do support him and have an issue with those who do not, need to get over themselves. The country is facing a crisis under the PNP, and if Andrew under the JLP thinks he can do better, then he should certainly be answering questions left, right and centre.

Those who are ignorant enough to say people should send letters to Belmont Road and not air the dirty laundry; you must be sleeping in wonderland. The dirty laundry from both sides is there for the entire world to see, Jamaica is not a little bubble where the truth can be hidden because many of you do not want to hear it.

Get over yourselves and understand that people have the right to speak their minds. It is as simple as that.
