Benjamin Mee struck late to snatch a controversial 1-1 draw versus Premier League leaders Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Midfield kingpin Nemanja Matic was shown a straight red card on 69 minutes when he reacted aggressively to Ashley Barnes’ lunging tackle on the Serbian. Mee majestically leapt high to head home from a corner 12 minutes later to cancel out Branislav Ivanovic’s opener.
Manchester City closed in on their West London counterparts after demolishing Newcastle 5-0 on Saturday. David Silva deserved his Man of the Match award after scoring a brace, while also setting up Edin Dzeko’s superb goal.

Barca winning streak ended
Malaga unlocked the secret to defeating Barcelona at their 20th attempt when they secured a 1-0 win at Camp Nou. Juanmi capitalised on a Daniel Alves defensive error to beat Barca goalkeeper Claudio Bravo before slotting into an empty net. Despite enjoying 71 per cent possession, Barcelona failed to conjure a response.
Real Madrid fully capitalised on Barcelona’s slip up when they brushed aside Elche 2-0 at Martinez Valero. After a slow start from the leaders, both goals came in the second period. Karim Benzema put the visitors ahead before Cristiano Ronaldo nodded home on 69 minutes to condemn Elche to defeat.

Bianconeri march further ahead
Serie A leaders Juventus had to come from behind to beat lowly Atalanta 2-1 on Friday. An early Giulio Migliaccio header shocked the Juventus Stadium crowd but the leaders quickly turned the game around when Alvaro Morata bundled home to precede an Andrea Pirlo special on the stroke of half time.
AS Roma has effectively been ruled out of the title race after drawing 1-1 again, this time to Hellas Verona. Evergreen captain Francesco Totti fired Roma into the lead on 25 minutes but Bosko Jankovic soon equalised on 38 minutes.

Dortmund continue to improve
Borussia Dortmund is in the wrong half of the table but happy after beating cellar-dwellers Stuttgart 3-2 on Saturday. The win is Dortmund’s third in as many matches and helps them move away from the relegation zone. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Marco Reus was on the score sheet again while Ilkay Gundogan also netted help secure the win.
Wolfsburg avoided a potential banana skin when they defeated Hertha Berlin 2-1 at home. The in-form Bas Dost provided the decisive double for the second placed team.
