Mini Miss Jamaica crowned
EVEN-YEAR-OLD Aisha Scott (Miss Delapenha’s Funeral Services), from St Ann, was crowned Mini Miss Jamaica 2014 at the finals held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Kingston on Sunday, December 21.
Aisha, a crowd favourite from the sashing ceremony, thrilled the crowd with her courage and talent in the face of some very stiff competition from girls years older than her by winning most of the sectional prizes.
She faltered during the question and answer session, but, luckily, so did her closest rivals, leaving her with the edge after a lengthy review by the judges. Her main prize is a trip to Disney World.
Nicarah Brady (Miss Fay’s On Wheels Restaurant) finished second, while Jordanne Whittick (Miss Klesing Industrial Supplies), who was highly touted to win, but fell flat in the question and answer session, finished third.
The cultural performances by the girls, however, were outstanding as the majority of them showed talent and guts in singing, dancing and reciting Louise Bennett verses.
Guests were entertained by Rising Star runner-up Nikeisha Barnes and dub poet Keith Shepherd.
