DUANVALE, Trelawny — Former champions Duanvale FC were one of four winners as the Trelawny Football Association’s MonyMusk Plantation Rum Major League competition that got under way last weekend.

On Saturday, Duanvale blanked Upsetters 3-0 to lead Zone One with three points along with Flames FC, who beat Classic United 1-0 on Sunday. Kinloss FC and Spicy Hill are the leaders in Zone Two with wins against promoted Baca Star United and Harmony FC, respectively. Duanvale FC got all their goals in the first half from Shane Weir in the 17th minute, Franz Brown in the 34th, and an own goal in the 37th minute.

On Sunday Flames edged Classic United 1-0 with a goal in the 13th minute from Shane Tyrell to stay close to the leaders. Kinloss FC turned back Baca Star 2-0 to take the lead in Zone Two; Fitzroy Robinson in the sixth minute and Cleon St Berry in the 51st minute were the scorers. Spicy Hill got by former champions Harmony 1-0 on Sunday with Kemar Robinson scoring in the 33rd minute.

Shannavan McKenzie scored the season’s first double for Cooper’s Pen to salvage a point from a 2-2 draw against Prospect Links at Samuel Prospect. McKenzie shot Cooper’s Pen into the lead as soon as the 11th minute, but Dervin Miller in the 15th minute and Ricardo Scott in the 28th minute gave the home team the lead at half-time.

McKenzie returned in the 48th minute to score both his second goal and that of the team, as the match ended with each team sharing the points. In another game, Clarks Town came back from giving up an early goal to earn a draw against Wakefield. Decoy Palmer had given Wakefield the lead in the fourth minute, but Odane Peart equalised for Clarks Town in the 34th minute.
