TUCKER, St James — Defending champions Montego Bay United and Waterhouse played out an entertaining 0-0 draw in their third-round Red Stripe Premier League encounter at Wespow Park, but qualification for both to the semi-finals will have to wait for at least another round of matches.

The draw, the first between the clubs this year, saw second-placed Waterhouse move to 51 points, while Montego Bay United improved to 49 and will stay in third place at the end of the round.

Both coaches seem satisfied with the result, but national senior team head coach Winfried Schaefer who was on hand was left puzzled by the lack of effort on goal.

“It was a good game, but why no one shoots at goal, why?” Schaffer said responding Jamaica Observer querries.

Both teams created numerous chances, but goalkeepers Jacomeno Barrett of Montego Bay United and Richard McCallum of Waterhouse had few saves to make.

Montego Bay United’s Carlos Garcia thought his team played in patches. “We started the game good, we dominated the first 30 minutes, but then we seem to back off, I don’t know if we were tired or what?” he asked.

“The second half was the same, but it was a bit more balanced… sometimes you don’t score, so that means we must create more chances and have to improve in the offensive part of the game.”

He described striker Dino Williams as “easily the best player in the league”, but “we must work harder for him to get chances”.

Waterhouse coach Anthony Patrick said “it was an entertaining game”.

“Both teams went at each other and I am satisfied with the point we got, even though we came here for three points, but one is ok,” he said.

At the start, Waterhouse had problems keeping up with the speed of Montego Bay United who came at them in waves. Ricardo Morris was the one pulling the strings from midfield, with Williams and Ottey running at the defense.

Williams missed a chance in the 38th minute when he swivelled and shot just wide after a pin-point pass from Keneil Kirlew.

Waterhouse’s first real chance came in the 44th minute, but Barrett went high to his favoured left side to punch a ball that seemed head for just under the cross bar.
