Caribbean men’s champions Jamaica will kick off their preparation for what will be a busy 2015 international season with two friendly internationals at the Montego Bay Sports Complex this weekend.

Tomorrow evening, the 76th – ranked Reggae Boyz will take on Venezuela, ranked 72nd, and then the 110th – ranked Cuba on Monday, both games are set to start at 8:00pm.

Jamaica will play in the Copa Americas starting in June and then the CONCACAF Gold Cup starting a month later, as well as the early qualifying rounds of the FIFA World Cup.

Head coach Winfried Schafer has called up a strong squad that includes 11 members of the team that won the Caribbean Cup in November last year and two local-based players.

Montego Bay United’s striker Dino Williams who has won a recall to the National squad and Waterhouse’s wing back Hughan Grey are the local- based players in the team that also sees the return of central defenders Wes Morgan of Leicester City and Adrian Mariappa of Crystal Palace- both in the English Premier League.

Venezuela are coming off back to back wins over Honduras in friendly internationals, 3-2 away and 2-1 at home, and will face Peru in Miami on March 31.

They are expected to include a number of European-based players in their team including goalkeeper Dani Hernandez of Tenerife in Spain; defenders Oswaldo Vizcarrondo of French club Nantes, Roberto Rosales of Malaga in Spain, Fernando Amorebieta of English Championship club Fulham. Tomas Rincon plays for Italian club Genoa, Juan Pablo Anor for Malaga and Christian Santos for NEC Breda of Holland, while striker Salomon Rondon plays for Zenit in Russia, and Josef Martinez, another striker, for Torino in Italy.

All of the Cuban players are based at home, but after their impressive showing at the Caribbean Cup tournament, they won’t be push overs.

Thirty-six year -old Yenier Marquez has scored 13 goals in his 113 appearances for Cuba, while Jaime Colome and Ariel Martinez who scored twice in the Caribbean Cup could also be dangerous customers.
