Semi-finalists decided in St Elizabeth Major League
SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth — Black Star FC will look to regain second place in the St Elizabeth Wray & Nephew Major League, as preliminary-round action culminates on Thursday with two rescheduled games.
In Black River, the defending champions will oppose Round Hill United at the New Town Community Centre, while Real Treasure Beach FC and Haughton United will meet at the Treasure Beach Sports Park in a game of academic interest.
Both games are set to kick off at 3:30 pm.
Black Star, along with Appleton Estate, Holland PYC and Tafari Lions, have already qualified for the semi-finals. But the Black River-based side could replace Holland, their semi-final opponents, in second spot should they beat the already relegated Round Hill.
Holland currently occupy second on 37 points, with Black Star sitting a point behind in third.
Meanwhile, mid-season champions Appleton Estate topped the preliminary-round standings on 40 points, while Tafari Lions (29) edged out Super Action (27) by two points for the last semi-final spot.
Round Hill, on eight points, and Santa FC (12) are the demoted teams.
