FOTA donates US$3,800 to Friends of Falmouth Hospital
FALMOUTH, Trelawny — The Friends of Trelawny Association (FOTA), a non-profit organisation headquartered in New York, last week presented the Friends of the Falmouth Hospital with a cheque for US$3,800 towards the purchase of an obstetric bed for the delivery room at the maternity ward of the Falmouth General Hospital.
The funds, which was raised over a four-month period by FOTA, was handed over to members of the Friends of the Falmouth Hospital by FOTA member Alman Clarke.
Noting that the ward was last refurbished four years ago by the Friends of Falmouth Hospital at a cost of $1 million, chairperson of the group Sheona Muschett said that the present delivery bed at the maternity ward is more than 20 years old.
Stressing the need for the bed, Muschett pointed out that since the refurbishing exercise, there has been a marked increase in the number of persons having babies at the facility.
She said FOTA has pledged to continue their support to projects that are being undertaken by the Friends of the Falmouth Hospital.
