SAXOPHONIST Dean Fraser is slated to headline the closing event of the Jamaica International (Ocho Rios) Jazz Festival scheduled for Band Stand at the Hope Botanical Gardens in St Andrew, on Sunday.

Showtime: 12 noon and 6:00 pm.

Often referred to as the quintessential Caribbean sax man, Fraser is known for navigating musical boundaries from reggae to jazz to R&B, and stamping his own unique style on each.

Part of the Sonny Bradshaw Seven, Fraser was a founding member of the band 809 while retaining his chair in the Jamaica Big Band. Currently the musical director for reggae singer Tarrus Riley, the saxophonist is also a successful record producer.

Other acts billed to perform include South African singer Lorraine Klaasen, Robert ‘Dubwise’ Browne, trumpeter Ginetta Vendetta from the United States, and the Jamaica Big Band.

A family event, patrons can bring their blankets and chairs for a picnic in the park with pulsating music from top-class acts.
