Kensington, St Catherine CA battle in Senior Cup quarter-final

KENSINGTON CC get another chance with destiny when they take on St Catherine CA in today’s rescheduled quarter-final match in the 2015 Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) two-day Senior Cup match at Chedwin Park.

The game is scheduled to begin at 10:00 am.

Kensington CC, who were the runners-up in Zone E, saw their match against the Zone C winners St Catherine CA two weeks ago ending in a no-result in a rain-affected encounter in Ewarton.

When play was called off at 6:30 pm, Kensington CC were 131-6 in reply to St Catherine CC’s 143 all out.

With the first-innings honours undecided, St Catherine CA advanced to the semi-final based on a better record in the preliminary round.

Kensington CC, who then lodged an appeal on the grounds that significant time was lost because water breached the cricket pitch, saw their argument sustained by JCA, forcing a replay between the two powerhouse teams.

Based on statistics, St Catherine CA will start as favourites and should get the better of their opponents. However, Kensington CC should not be taken lightly as they will be coming with vengeance in their eyes.

The winner of today’s match will meet St Catherine CC in the semi-final.

Reigning champions Jamaica Defence Force have already booked their spot in the final after defeating St Thomas CA in their semi-final encounter last week at Up Park Camp.
