Cop among two killed, several others injured in St Thomas crash
TRELAWNY, Jamaica — A police constable is among two people who were killed in a late-night crash along the Seaforth main road in St Thomas on Tuesday.
The incident reportedly left several others suffering from serious injuries, according to reports.
The deceased have been identified as Police Constable Keron Kellyman and 31-year-old electrician Dwight Robinson.
Observer Online understands that a Toyota Isis driven by Kellyman and a Honda Accord were involved in the accident.
Reports are that upon reaching the vicinity of a housing scheme, the driver of the Honda Accord reportedly swerved into the path of the oncoming Toyota Isis in an attempt to manoeuvre around a pothole.
In the resulting crash, the Toyota Isis overturned into a gully on the right side of the road. Both Kellyman, who reportedly sustained severe injuries to his face, and Robinson, who was a passenger in the Isis, were pronounced dead.
Two additional occupants of that vehicle sustained serious injuries and are currently in stable condition at hospital, while the two occupants of the Honda Accord also sustained serious injuries, but their condition is not considered life-threatening at this time.
