Thompson happy with performance at National Senior Champs
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Elaine Thompson, the sixth fastest woman this year and second fastest Jamaican behind training partner Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, says she has no regrets about withdrawing from the 100m at last weekend’s JAAA National Senior Championships at the National Stadium.
Thompson being left out of the 100m at the trials raised some concerns, but word from the MVP camp is that she was not ready to run the double and it was thought she would be better suited for the 200m, which she won on Sunday in 22.51 seconds running into a stiff head wind.
“I am not disappointed (about not running the 100m),” a defensive-looking Thompson told the media on Sunday evening as she celebrated her 23rd birthday, “I am happy.”
