Prison escapee nabbed in St Elizabeth a year later

SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth – A man charged with murder and illegal possession of a firearm who is said to have escaped from the Horizon Adult Remand Centre in April, 2014 was held in Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth, on Wednesday.

Police have identified the man as Casheem Peart, a 19-year-old labourer of Park Mountain, Santa Cruz.

Reports are that police were on patrol in the Santa Cruz business district at 2.30 pm when a man was seen acting suspiciously. He was taken to the Santa Cruz Police Station and checks revealed his identity.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Erron Samuels says Peart’s capture forms part of “an ongoing operation to rid the streets of criminals”.
