St Ann on a roll in Kingston Wharves U15 cricket
ST Ann continued their winning ways yesterday getting the better of St James by 276 runs at Ultimate Cricket Ground in St Ann.
Rasheed Edwards with 117 not out top- scored with Kevon Hinds, 75 not out as well, getting among the runs.
Shamar Edwards and Demoy Baker got one wicket each. St James in reply were skittled out for 71 in 24.2 overs. Only Anil Braham with 13 not out put up any resistance. Top bowler Michael Thompson bagged his second five-for (5-27) and Kevon Hinds came back to get three wickets (3-16).
Defending champions St Elizabeth notched their third win after defeating Clarendon at Treasure Beach by seven wickets. Clarendon won the toss and took first strike making 94 all out in 24.4 overs on the back of Romain Silva’s 25, and Romario Gordon with 10. Three bowlers dominated — Robert Simpson with four for 15 in six overs, Romario Moxon with two for 10 in four overs, and Osmond Gayle with two for 19 in four overs.
St Elizabeth raced to 95 for 3 in 15.1 overs with Roberto Simpson on 33 top- scoring, while Romario Moxon with 19, and Osmond Gayle with 18 gave good support with the bat.
Portmore were in the win column again, this time by 106 runs. They got the better of St Catherine who were bowled out for 82 in 23 overs. Shaquille Craig, 16, and Rohan Francis with 10 were the only batsmen to get into double figures. Sachin Simms got four wickets (4-15), while Christopher Green and Kirk McKenzie bagged two each.
Portmore scored 188 all out in exactly 40 overs. Kirk McKenzie with 48 and Sachin Simms with 46 were the main run getters. Top-scorer Craig came back to take four wickets for eight runs in three overs, while Rohan Francis and Stephen Logan grabbed two each.
The match between Westmoreland and Hanover was a low scoring one which went to Westmoreland by 10 wickets. Hanover won the toss and batted, making 13 all out. They only had nine players. Rajae Simpson bagged four wickets for one run, while Bisnott Headley got two for four in four overs. Westmoreland got to 14 runs without losing any wicket in 1.1 overs with Javed Simpson on eight top scoring. Westmoreland now have two wins and a loss with one round to go.
Former national champions St Andrew went down to St Mary at Boscobel Primary by 19 runs after making 168 all out in the 40th over. Malaki Moore 48, Jordan Douglas 38, and Sanjae Nectie 34, accounted for the runs.
The pick of the bowlers were Andel Gordon who got seven for 32 in 7.2 overs, while Demario Commack got two for 33 in six overs. St Mary, who were invited to bat made 187 for eight in 40 overs with Deshaun Hylton making 66 not out, Tajae Coke 31, and Marjan Morgan 21. The top bowler was Nikit Gupte with three for 42 from eight overs.
The final of six matches to be played went to St Thomas, who defeated Portland at Folly Oval eight wickets. Portland made 34 all out, while St Thomas replied with 35 for 2.
The final preliminary round matches will be played tomorrow at six venues across the island.
