KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the fastest woman in the world this year, easily won her semi-finals 100m race in a time of 10.82 seconds at the IAAF World Championships now under way in Beijing, China.

The explosive starter looked excellent in that race and is the favourite to win and retain her title.

Veronica Campbell-Brown and Natasha Morrison will line up alongside compatriot Fraser-Pryce to give Jamaica a chance at having three women on the World Championship podium.

While Morrison clocked a personal-best 10.96 seconds to qualify as one of the fastest losers, Campbell-Brown finished second in her semi-final race in a season’s best time of 10.89 seconds.

Also lining up at 8:35 am today in the finals are Trinidadians Kelly-Ann Baptiste and Michelle-Lee Ahye. Baptiste clocked 10.90s and Ahye was the other fastest loser after clocking 10.97 seconds.

Nigeria’s Blessing Okagbare, who finished behind Fraser-Pryce in her semi-finals, clocked 10.89 seconds to also advance.

And, the two women to round off the line-up are Amercan Tori Bowie (10.87s) and Dafne Schippers (10.83s) of the Netherlands.
