District constable to face court after allegedly forging dance permit
KINGSTON, Jamaica – A 52-year-old district constable is to face the court today after detectives from the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) charged him with forgery on Tuesday.
Frederick Callosingh, who is assigned to the Old Harbour Police Station allegedly forged the signature of a former commanding officer on a dance permit.
On June 6, lawmen from the Old Harbour Police Station reportedly responded to a call from residents about breaches of the Noise Abatement Act in the Gutters Community.
The police, on arrival at the location, requested the permit from the event organisers.
While examining the document, they realised the authorising signature was that of a former commanding officer for the St Catherine South Division.
During preliminary investigations, it was discovered that Callosingh allegedly forged the signature of the former commanding officer for a sum of $6,000.
A report was made to MOCA, which resulted in the arrest and charge policeman on Tuesday.
Callosingh is scheduled to appear in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate’s Court today.
