CIBC opens new MoBay branch

Managing Director of CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank Nigel Holness has hailed the phenomenal growth experienced in the resort city of Montego Bay, and expressed that this needs to be reproduced across the island’s economic landscape.

“It’s amazing to see what is happening in Montego Bay. Mayor, what a tremendous job, encouraging businesses to come here …we are doing something right. We need to replicate this kind of growth across the landscape of Jamaica. So I commend all those who are doing an excellent job in Montego Bay. The growth is absolutely amazing,” Holness said.

He was speaking at last Wednesday’s official opening of the CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank’s Fairview Town Centre branch, which was opened to customers on September 28, 2015. The Fairview facility is the bank’s 15th branch to be established in Jamaica and the second in Montego Bay.

Holness explained that being a part of the Montego Bay business community, through the St James Street branch, provided CIBC FirstCaribbean officials the opportunity to witness the resort city’s massive growth in tourism and many other industries, which inspired the decision to establish the Fairview outlet.

“As the Montego Bay business landscape continues to evolve, we felt it was virtually our responsibility to support these efforts by establishing this additional branch here at Fairview,” Holness announced.

The Fairview branch will offer a full range of retail banking, small business and platinum services. Customers will have access to a 24-hour drive-through instant teller machine, two full service 24-hour indoor instant teller machines, and convenient parking. The branch also boasts a new Teller Cash Recycler (TCR), which will reduce transaction processing times and generally improve efficiency at the bank.

The CIBC FirstCaribbean Mortgage and Loans Centre will have extended hours, opening daily 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. The branch’s opening hours will be Mondays to Thursdays 8:30 am to 2:00 pm and Fridays from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.

Meanwhile, President of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry Gloria Henry saluted CIBC for the establishment of their second branch in Montego Bay.

“The Montego Chamber of Commerce and Industry is committed to encouraging and supporting the city’s growing financial institutions and expansion of their services across the emerging district in Freeport,” Henry stated.

She added: “Montego Bay is the fastest-growing economic corridor in Jamaica, if not the Caribbean, and the expansion of a financial institution such as FirstCaribbean is a clear testament that things are really happening in this region.”
