PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — Jamaica were defeated 0-2 by Haiti in Friday’s Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Women’s Under-20 final at the Stade Sylvio Cator.
Batcheba Louis opened the scoring, beating Jamaica’s goalkeeper Ricquelle Farquharson from the penalty spot after stand-in Captain Konya Plummer was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the box.
She was yellow-carded for the offence.
Haiti Captain Kensia Destinvil scored from 18 yards out in the 61st to ensure that the hosts dethroned Jamaica as CFU Women’s U-20 champions.
Jamaica’s Deneisha Blackwood was red carded in the 83rd minute.
By virtue of reaching the final, both teams were already through to the CONCACAF Round set for Honduras in December.
In the third-place play-off at the venue, Trinidad & Tobago beat Puerto Rico 4-3 in sudden death penalty kicks after both teams were tied 1-1 at the end of full and extra time.
