KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Senate is scheduled to resume sitting at Gordon House on Friday, January 8, following Parliament’s Christmas break.

In a release yesterday, Gordon House said that the agenda for Friday will include a statement from Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator AJ Nicholson, on the outcome of the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 21 or CMP 11) held in Paris, France, from November 30 to December 12, 2015.

It was the 21st yearly session of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the 1992 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and the 11th session of the Meeting of the Parties to the 1997 Kyoto Protocol.

Gordon House also announced that the three strategic Bills fundamental to the Local Government Reform process, which were passed in the House of Representatives in November, would also be debated on Friday.

The three Bills are the: Local Governance Bill 2015; Local Government (Unified Service And Employment) Bill 2015; and Local Government (Financing And Financial Management) Bill 2015. The Constitution (Local Government) (Amendment) Bill was passed in both the Senate and the House of Representatives earlier last year.
