DWAYNE ‘Mad Scientist’ Henry, 26, is hoping his invention will open doors for him: literally.

His home-made creation is a remote entry and start system for motor vehicles. He is hoping it will make it to full production in 2016.

“I’ve been inventing things around the community for a while now,” Henry told Auto.

Henry’s device can be retrofitted to any vehicle with power doors and windows, allowing owners to open doors and start the vehicle from outside. He said he was encouraged by those around him to create the product.

“I’ve been working on it from 2012,” he said.

The invention is built from items found at the Riverton City Dump in Kingston.

“I just finished it. Right now, I’m waiting on a certified electrician to go over it to so I can start making more of them,” he said.

A resident of Waterhouse in St Andrew, Henry said he has always liked tinkering with stuff.

“I wanted to be an inventor. I would go on the dump in Riverton and pick up things people throw weh. I also pick up scrap metal and sell. I would love to go to school and learn about dem thing yah the right way. That a beat me,” he said.

Apart from attending the Balmagie Primary in St Andrew, Henry said he attended two months of a three-month class at LEAP Centre on Duke Street in downtown Kingston.

“Mi nah wait pon nuh handout… me jus a do my thing,” he said.
