Jamalco hunt third win in Clarendon Major League

HAYES, Clarendon — Title-holders Jamalco FC will go in search of their-third successive victory when the Clarendon FA/Captain’s Bakery Major League continues today with three preliminary-round fixtures.

They will host Zone B rivals Lionel Town FC at the Wembley Centre of Excellence starting at 3:00 pm.

Elsewhere, Sporting Central Academy play Original Hazard at the Toll Gate Community Centre, while Kemps Hill travel to Comfort in the day’s other game.

Jamalco kicked off their title defence with 6-0 and 2-0 wins over Treadlight FC and New Bowens FC, respectively, to lead their group on maximum six points, and will now take on Lionel Town in an early top-of-the-table clash.

Lionel Town, formerly Monymusk FC, are also unbeaten after two games, but trail Jamalco by two points following a 2-2 draw with debutants Savannah FC and a 2-0 win over Treadlight.

Meanwhile, relegated Premier League outfit Sporting Central Academy will be hunting their first win of the season when they welcome Zone C leaders Original Hazard to the south-west.

Sporting were held 1-1 by Wood Hall in their only game so far and, consequently, occupy third place in the five-team group. Central Clarendon-based Hazard lead the way on maximum six points following wins over Bucknor United (1-0) and Wood Hall (2-1).

Moores United are second on three points after they opened their campaign with a 1-0 triumph at Bucknor on Tuesday.

In other results, Bowens thrashed Savannah 4-0 in Zone B, while York Town blanked Black Stars 3-0 to move to within a point of Zone A leaders Four Paths FC (four points).
