Rockfort Moving Forward 5K set for November 15

KINGSTON, Jamaica—The Rockfort Moving Forward Annual 5K Run & Walk is set to take place on Sunday, November 15, with organisers aiming to promote fitness, community unity and progress while raising funds to support three primary schools.

The event, which is being staged under the theme: “Fitness, Community, Unity, Progress — Together We Move Forward,” will start at 6:30 am from Windward Road Primary School.

Organised by Rockfort Moving Forward, the 5K is being sponsored by the Ministry of Health and Wellness and the Rockfort St Andrew Municipal Council.

According to the organisers, part of the proceeds from the event will benefit Windward Road Primary School, Norman Gardens Primary School and Rennock Lodge Primary School.

Participants will compete for cash prizes in the 5K, with the top four finishers scheduled to receive US$80, US$60, US$40 and US$20, respectively. Medals will also be awarded to top finishers.

The event is expected to feature music and entertainment, refreshments and snacks, adding a community-festival element to the run and walk.

Registration costs $2,000 for adults, $1,000 for children under -14, while groups of five or more can register at $1,700 per person.

Organisers are encouraging residents and members of the wider community to participate, with the event designed not only as a fitness activity but also as a means of supporting education and community development.

The initiative’s message is captured in its slogan: “Run for a cause. Walk for your community. Every step makes a difference.”
