GC Foster Classic: C’bar’s Taylor wins U-17 400m in 45.86s
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — Calabar’s young prodigy Christopher Taylor continued his phenomenal display with an impressive 45.86-second clocking to win the Digicel Grand Prix boys’ Under-17 400m at the GC Foster Classic now under way in St Catherine.
Despite battling a strong headwind, Taylor, running from lane one, was superb in victory as he easily pulled away from the rest of the field. Dwight Mason of St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) finished second in 49.07 seconds.
Sanique Walker of Vere Technical won the girls’ Under-17 event in a record 55.15 seconds, lowering the old mark of 55.77 seconds set by Shanice Walker last year.
Meanwhile, Shannon Kalawan of Edwin Allen won the girls Under-20 event in a fast 53.18 seconds and St Jago’s Collin Sewell tipped the boys equivalent in a time of 47.63 seconds.
