Traffic changes for Holness swearing-in
KINGSTON, Jamaica (JIS) – Motorists can expect delays along the main corridors of Hope Road, East Kings House Road and West Kings House Road, in Kingston, tomorrow when Prime Minister-designate Andrew Holness will be sworn in at King’s House, beginning at 4:00 pm.
Senior Superintendent of Police and Commanding Officer for the Traffic and Highway Division, Calvin Allen, told JIS News that motorists will be affected between 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
“However, we will ensure that we meet that level of equilibrium, to facilitate persons attending the ceremony at King’s House and the general motoring public going about their normal business,” he said.
“There will be restrictions along the main gate area (at King’s House), where only specially invited guests will be granted access. Another group will be granted access through the West Kings House gate coming up from the vicinity of the Canadian High Commission. General parking will be facilitated along East Kings House Road, where traffic officers will be in place to provide the necessary advice and guidance,” Senior Superintendent Allen added.
Allen said he is encouraging motorists to avoid the areas mentioned, to help with the traffic flow for the ceremony.
