Salt Spring United look to extend lead in Sandals/ATL Division One football
ALBION, St James — Salt Spring United could open up a seven-point lead in Zone One of the St James Football Association Sandals/ATL Division One today when they take on Club Stars in a return-round game at Albion starting at 3:30 pm.
Salt Spring, who were demoted from the Senior League at the end of last season, have so far dominated the competition, winning six of seven games played and are on 18 points, four more than second-placed Revelations FC who have played one game more than the leaders.
Two other games will be played today as well Seaview FC and Bogue FC will meet at Flanker, while Westgreen FC will host Salt Spring Roses at Westgreen.
Salt Spring United won the first meeting against Club Stars 2-0, led by Lavario Whyte, who has scored six goals so far, and Kemar Sterling, who has scored in their last two games, should have the measure of Club Stars.
Seaview FC and Bogue FC ended 1-1 in their first meeting this season and are tied on 13 points coming into this game, in second place, nine points behind leaders Somerton FC.
Seaview FC have had the better recent record, however, and Bogue FC were hammered 5-2 by Somerton FC last week.
Salt Spring FC have lost all seven games played so far and this will give home team Westgreen FC the edge after winning the first game 3-2.
