Ferguson to run again for PNP VP
ST MARY, Jamaica – Dr Fenton Ferguson has announced his intention to seek office again as a vice president of the Opposition People’s National Party (PNP).
Dr Ferguson, who is the longest serving of the four vice presidents of the party, announced his intention to run again at the party’s Annual Conference in September, during a meeting of the Regional Executive Council (REC) for Region Two at the St Mary High School in Highgate today.
“Yes, I informed the REC meeting today that I will be putting myself forward to run as a vice of the party at conference,” Dr Ferguson confirmed to OBSERVER ONLINE.
Dr Ferguson, the Member of Parliament for St Thomas Eastern, has served as Minister of Health and Minister of Labour and Social Security in the previous PNP Administration.
Earlier, former Youth and Culture Minister Lisa Hanna announced on her Instagram page today that she would be seeking to become a vice president of the party in September.
Apart from Dr Ferguson, the other vice presidents are Derrick Kellier, Angela Brown Burke and Noel Arscott.
OBSERVER ONLINE understands that Kellier will not be seeking reelection at the party conference, which has paved the way for Dr Wykeham McNeill to also announce his intention to run for VP.
