JamaicaN-born, Canada-based R&B artiste Khesan is currently in the island working on a remix for his single Taken with reggae artiste Sizzla Kalonji.

Khesan said he was introduced to the Rastafari act by mutual friend.

“I approached him with the idea and he listened the song and gave me the nod …. I am very excited to work alongside him, as it is definitely a plus in my career. He is filled with virtue and vibe and I am still amazed at how humble he was towards me as a younger artiste,” Khesan told Splash.

Explaining the concept behind Taken, the R&B artiste said the issue is one of infidelity.

“It’s very controversial. In the song, I am speaking to my girlfriend about an affair that I have been having. The aim is make my girl understand that I love her, but I also want to be with the other girl. I am telling her that I am a Jamaican man and I want to have my cake and eat it,” he said.

The remix of Taken is slated to be released next month.

Khesan (given name Richard Dickson) spent his earlier years in St Catherine and St Elizabeth.

After completing his studies at Balaclavia Secondary (now high school), he migrated to Toronto where his interest in music was sparked.

“When I migrated to Canada and started doing music, I wanted my listeners to understand what I was saying, so I decided to do R&B instead of dancehall,” he said.

Among his first set of singles were Can’t Get Enough, Going Nowhere, It’s Ok, and Biker Boys Ride.

“I really hope that one day my music will reach the four corners of the earth. I want to top Billboard charts and win Grammys,” he said.
