KINGSTON, Jamaica – Former champions Excelsior condemned St George’s College to their first defeat at home following a 1-0 win score line in a riveting Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/FLOW

Group A top-of-the-table clash at Winchester Park on Friday.

Thorne Buchanan got the all-important strike from the spot in the 17th minute to propel Excelsior to the top of the group on 16 points, while St George’s College have now been relegated into second position one point behind.

With the win, the Mountain View Avenue-based team has placed one foot in the Super Cup and Walker Cup knockout competitions with one game in hand and the final 45-minutes of the abandoned fixture which they lead 2-1 against the same opponents to be completed.

For St George’s College, the reigning Super Cup champions, they will have to get by Greater Portmore on Monday and defeat or secure a point against Excelsior in the fixture to be completed in order to top the group and defend their title.

Meanwhile, Tivoli Gardens High defeated Tarrant High 2-0 in the other group fixture at Edward Seaga Complex.
