Youth View Awards set for spectacular 10th anniversary celebration

Top nominations and more

The Youth View Awards are back and with a bang too as the award show celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2017. Last time around was epic but this year the organisers promise the show will be an even better and more thrilling spectacle as the young and old admirers of the entertainment industry prepare for the highly anticipated event which will be held this Saturday, February 16 at the National Indoor Sports Centre.

With the 10th anniversary celebration, a number of new features have been added including Break out New Artiste of the Year – Male and Female, the Icon award and the new voting website Caribbean.com.

The Vendetta and Gaza camps must be elated as both Alkaline and Vybz Kartel dominate the 2017 YVA’s nomination table.  Alkaline received the most with 10, while Kartel received seven nominations, two of which are for Favorite Music Collaboration, one with Shenseea on

Loodi and the other with Demarco on

Google. Alkaline is also up against Kartel in this category receiving two nominations for his collaborations with Movado in “Farewell” and the other with Shaggy in

That Love.

Both artistes however are also in the running to receive perhaps the most anticipated award, which is Favorite Dancehall Artiste. Spice and Popcaan are also nominated in this category.

Other artistes who received nominations include Konshens (5), Spice (6), Popcaan (5), Ding Dong (4), Shenseea (4), and Mavado and I-Shawna (3).
