Beneficiaries of the Boom GT Taylor Christmas Extravaganza were presented with cheques at the Waterloo Guest House in Black River, St Elizabeth, on February 22.

Founder and promoter of the show, GT Taylor, handed over cheques of $50,000 to the Jamaica Cancer Society ; $20,000 to the St Elizabeth Care Committee; and a $71,000 commitment grant for a student at Black River High School.

It is the sixth year ‘Extravaganza’ has supported the Care Committee, which provides for the homeless in Black River, St Elizabeth’s chief town. The Jamaica Cancer Society is benefiting for a second year.

Taylor reached out to administrators at Black River High School to assist a ‘needy student’ who has excelled academically .

“Giving back means a lot to me; it’s really my duty on Earth,” said Taylor, who started the annual show in 2000. “We’re more than a show…we’re here to help people in need. That’s the idea.”

‘Extravaganza’ took place at the Luana Sports Complex in Black River.
