The JN VISA/KSAFA Jackie Bell Knockout semi-finals will be staged at the Constant Spring Complex today, after the playing of a Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) encounter between Reno FC and host sMaverley/Hughenden.

The RSPL game will be payed at 3:30 pm, with Cavalier SC facing Waterhouse FC at 6:30 pm, and Barbican FC taking on Tivoli Gardens at 8:30 pm in the JN VISA/KSAFA Jackie Bell competition.

In the quarter-finals played on Thursday night at the same venue, Kemar Beckford struck decisively two minutes from time for Waterhouse FC against Maverley/Hughenden FC for the 1-0 win.

Cavalier SC had opened the programme against fellow Super League team Central Kingston FC and swamped them 5-1.

In the clash between the struggling RSPL teams, Beckford threw Waterhouse a lifeline victory after robbing defenceman Robert Williams of the ball on the Maverley goal line.

He then beat the former Waterhouse goalkeeper George Brown with a well- placed shot from close up.

Barbican FC and Tivoli Gardens had qualified for their semi-final spots a day earlier.

In his post-match response, Glendon “Admiral” Bailey, coach of Waterhouse, said: “It was a victory that I welcome, but it serve merely to keep the team focused towards remaining in the Premier League. This is my main objective at this time — to keep Waterhouse in the Premier League.”

In the opening game, two goals each from Nicholas Hamilton and Alex Marshall, and a penalty from skipper Ryan Miller, saw Cavalier SC to a comfortable victory, while Joel Nicholas replied for Central Kingston.

Coach Rudolph Speid was satisfied with the evening’s work from his players. “I thought we came out and played well offensively; we played with pace. Their passing was commendable in the final third and that was very encouraging.”

His counterpart, Vincent Watson, was not happy with his team’s performance, but conceded that “this is football. The players had an off day and when this happens there is not much one can do.”
