PM tours St Catherine, St Ann and Clarendon today
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Prime Minister Andrew Holness will today tour the flood-affected parishes of St Catherine, St Ann and Clarendon.
According to information from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), Holness will make his first stop at Sunny Side in Linstead, St Catherine then head to Aenon Town and Cave Valley in St Ann.His final stops will be in Clarendon where he will visit Frankfield, Ebony Park, Alley and Rockypoint before returning to Kingston.Holness returned to the island last night from an official visit to the Dominican Republic. He was originally scheduled to return today, but cut short his visit as a result of the heavy rains that have impacted the island.Jamaica has, since Saturday evening, been experiencing persistent heavy rainfall, which has severely affected sections of St Elizabeth, St Thomas, Kingston and St Andrew, St Catherine, Clarendon, Manchester, Westmorland, St Mary, Portland and St Ann.There have been severe infrastructural and agricultural damage, dislocation and major inconvenience, especially for students who are sitting exit secondary examinations.OBSERVER ONLINE has received data for rainfall accumulations representing a 21-hour period since 7:00 am yesterday.
