Most parishes returned to normality; Clarendon experiencing challenges – JPS
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) is reporting that their teams have returned most of the island to normal operations following power disruptions caused by the recent heavy rainfall islandwide.
The electricity distribution company said that less than one per cent of its customer base, or approximately 5,000 customers, are still without supply.The majority of affected customers are in Clarendon, where JPS teams say they continue to experience challenges restoring electricity, due to inaccessible locations.,p> The affected communities in Clarendon include: Danks to Pennants, Woodhall and surrounding areas.Other communities which are still affected by outages include: sections of Mavis Bank, Perkins Boulevard, and Queensborough in St Andrew; Camberwell in St Mary; Gobay District, Mount Rosser and Williamsfield in St Catherine; and Hopewell and St Leonards in St James.The company said it wishes to assure customers that it will continue to do everything to restore power supply as quickly and safely as possible.
