One of the dominant teams over the years, Scotiabank ‘A’ will be looking to go one better at the Business House Netball Association Rally, which gets underway today at 4:00 pm at the Leila Robinson Courts, National Stadium Complex.

Scotiabank, who also have a ‘B’ team in the competition, were involved in three finals last year when they won the open league.However, they lost the finals for titles in the senior league and rally to first-time entrants, Ministry of Education, who possess a wassy team that includes former Sunshine Girls Sasher-Gay Henry and Paula Robinson, plus Nardia Hanson, Tracy-Ann Robinson and highly-thought-of shooter, Sadiki Hamilton-Barnes.For their part, Scotiabank have good experience and quality in Captain Nordia Brown, Shann Lambert and Sateva Taylor-Barnes.Their biggest problem though is the absence of key shooter, Marsha Murphy-Dawes, a former national representative.“We lost our top shooter last year in the competition to injury and she’s still not back, that is our problem — we’re missing our main shooter, Marsha Murphy Dawes. She’s not recovered as yet. She has a serious knee injury, which required surgery,” said Wayne Shaw, manager of the Scotiabank team.In her absence, Kennisha Bernard and Shadian Hemmings have handled the shooting, and Shaw expects his team to make another finals appearance.“Last year we lost in the final and we expect to be in the finals again,” he said.All told, 31 companies are competing in the rally and there will be 35 teams. Jamaica Fire Brigade, EduCom Co-operative Credit Union Limited, Lasco and Jamaica Customs Agency are newcomers, while Maritime and Transport are returning after a brief absence.The competition is sponsored by the Jamaica Public Service, Delgado Healthcare Services and Wisynco and will get underway with an opening ceremony and uniform parade, beginning at 4: 00 pm. Mike Fennell, president of the Jamaica Olympic Association, is set to deliver the keynote address.
