UPDATE: Man charged with murder of girlfriend in Parottee
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — Police on Tuesday charged a 38-year-old licensed firearm holder with murder, four days after his 20-year-old girlfriend was shot dead in Hill Top, Parottee, St Elizabeth.
Charged with murder and using a firearm to commit a felony is Joseph Finnikin otherwise called “Bug”, “Tyson” or “Contractor”, a building contractor and resident of Lindos Hill District in Petersfield, Westmoreland.
Last Friday, a highly placed police source said Finnikin had initially told detectives that about 8:30 am his girlfriend Anishka Thompson had playfully picked up his licensed firearm and in an attempt to take it from her he heard a loud explosion.

The incident was initially classified as a death investigation before being upgraded to a murder case.
