NASSAU, Bahamas (CMC) – Bahamian technology firm, Cloud Carib, is aiming to capture more market share in data centre solutions across the Caribbean.

According to company officials, plans are being made to open five data centres by the end of the year.

The company says it will inaugurate rebuilt data centres in Panama, Jamaica and Barbados as well as establishing data facilities in Trinidad and Tobago and the Cayman Islands.

There are currently two data centres in The Bahamas.

More data centres means that clients can “choose a location that suits their needs,” say company officials.

“We’re helping clients design a solution for them, not providing cookie cutter solutions and forcing them to work within those constraints,” said Cloud Carib’s Chief Commercial Officer, Scott McKenzie.

Founded in 2011, Carib counts Cisco, Juniper, VMware, Citrix, Netapp, and Brocade among its partners.

Cable Bahamas, one of the main wireless carriers in the country, is said to be heavily reliant on Carib’s data centre to provide broadband access to its customers.

Cloud Carib’s data centres are serviced by their own Command and Control Centre to provide clients with support and monitoring.

All Cloud Carib data centres are operated in alignment of international standards with service supported by the Cloud Carib Service Management Framework.

The company noted that due to the regions geographical advantages, there’s been an explosion of organisations interested in cloud services provided throughout The Bahamas and Caribbean region and it has responded to the growing demand with regional expansion.
