Court staff to get customer service training
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A comprehensive Customer Service Training Programme will take place tomorrow as part of the Government’s push to ensure that effective, efficient and satisfactory customer service is delivered to Jamaicans who use the Court System.
The Ministry of Justice said this training will be conducted by the Management Institute for National Development – MIND at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge, at the University of the West Indies.
“It has been recognised through monitoring and evaluation that the country’s court staff need to be better trained in customer service best practices so that Jamaicans can feel that their matters are being effectively dealt with in a polite and efficient manner,” the ministry stated in a press release today.
It noted that concerns have been raised by the public for quite some time about customer service challenges in the Courts and plans are now at an advanced stage to ensure that sanctions are applied if customer service standards are breached.
Saturday’s session is being organized by the Justice Undertakings for Social Transformation – JUST programme which is administered by the Justice Reform Implementation Unit – JRIU in the Ministry of Justice. The Court Management Services — CMS division has also collaborated with JUST to stage the training seminar.
The court personnel who will be trained are drawn from a wide cross section of the court service and include: court administrators, deputy clerks, assistant clerks, registry staff and case progression officers.
The officers who will be trained are from: The Corporate Area Civil Court (Sutton Street) Court; The Kingston and St Andrew Family Court; The Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court Criminal Division (Half-Way-Tree) and the St Catherine Parish Court (Spanish Town) as well as the St Thomas Parish Court.
