KINGSTON, Jamaica — The fastest man in the 110m hurdles this year, Omar McLeod took his semi-final in 13.10 second ahead of Frenchman Garfield Darien (13.17) to qualify for tomorrow’s final at the 2017 IAAF World Championships in London.

The other Jamaican in the semi-final round and fellow Kingston College alumni, Hansle Parchment, copped the second automatic qualifying spot in the tightly contested second semi-final heat. In the race won by Barbadian Shane Brathwaite in 13.26 seconds, Parchment leaned in just enough to snatch the second automatic spot from American Devon Allen. Both men finished in 13.27 seconds.

The two qualifiers from the third semi-final were world record holder Aries Merritt of the United States, who was second in 13.25, behind Hungarian Balazs Baji (13.23).

The two non-automatic qualifiers were Russian Sergey Shubenkov (13.22) and Spaniard Orlando Ortega (13.23).

The final is to be contested tomorrow at 3:30 pm Jamaica time.
