#London2017: No Jamaican in men’s 200m final
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Yohan Blake and Rasheed Dwyer this afternoon failed to make it through to the finals of the men’s 200 metres at the IAAF World Championships in London.
Blake, who was run out of an automatic qualifying position by Japan’s wunderkind Abdul Hakim Sani Brown, finished third in the second heat in 20.52s in heat two of the event, while Dwyer was last in his heat, clocking 20.69.
Meanwhile, South African Wayde van Niekerk only made it through to the final on time with 20.28 behind Turkey’s Ramil Guliyev (20.17) and the United States’ Ameer Webb (20.22).
Botswana’s Isaac Makwala, who ran an individual time-trial at the beginning of today’s programme to make it through to the semi final, is also through to the final after running 20.14s from the tight inside lane in the first semi final.
