Newly installed president of the Rotary Club of Negril, assistant Superintendent of Operations assigned to the St James Fire Department, Rudolph Seaton, has announced a raft of projects that he plans to implement during his tenure.

The senior firefighter was installed as president of the club during the recent 13th installation of directors’ function, held at the Sea Star on the West End Road in Negril.

His installation came five days after he was installed as a justice of the peace for Westmoreland.

According to Seaton, his projects will include an annual tertiary education assistance programme, which will be undertaken in partnership with an overseas group called Daf, where each year one needy students will be sponsored; improvement work to the Hanover Educational Institute through partnership with the Rotary Club of Calgary; and the provision of equipment to the Negril Health Centre, in an effort to improve the services offered at the facility.

He added that the club would also be looking at a water and sanitation programme for schools.

“We are yet to identify an area where this will take place, but we are presently looking at two schools. I don’t want to mention them at this time, but we want to make sure that the project will materialise during the Rotary year 2017/2018,”Assistant Superintendent Seaton emphasised.

“We want to continue to look at community projects and programmes, and see where we can intervene and help to improve the lives in the community, especially some of the more vulnerable persons,” he added.
