Jamaica Customs promises extended opening hours at Kingston port

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA) says that it will be facilitating the clearance of containers at the Port of Kingston, as long as the Kingston Freezone Terminal (KFT) remains opened for business.

In a release a short while ago, the JCA said this facilitation is in keeping with efforts to clear the backlog of containers, which occurred as a result of recent strikes by haulage contractors and operators, who have since resumed duties at the terminal.

The JCA is assuring its stakeholders that it is collaborating and working with the KFL, its partners, and border agencies to effectively reduce and ultimately clear the backlog of containers at the port.
