Campari Pop Style party series kicks off

WITH a thrust to reward stylish guests while showcasing the eclectic styles of Jamaicans, Campari Pop Style party series is set to kick off tonight at Pulse 8 in New Kingston. Admission free.

Three events will be held leading up to the grand final on Saturday, November 11, at the Waterfront in downtown Kingston.

Nadia Kiffin-Green, marketing manager, J Wray & Nephew Limited, explained the concept behind the series.

“Globally, Campari has always been associated with style and fashion, as you can see from our international calendars throughout the years. Locally Campari has always been aligned with fashion events such as Mission Catwalk, Avante Garde, Fashion Block, Caribbean Fashion Week, and Collection Moda. Now with Campari Pop Style parties we are highlighting our Street Fashion culture. Jamaicans are known for expressing their individuality through style and we love it. So Campari is celebrating what makes us unique and rewarding those efforts,” she told Splash.

At each Campari Pop Style party, scouts will select stylish men and women in the crowd who will be asked to walk the Pop Style Runway. Resident judges, along with the celebrity guest judge, will then critique the top contestants and allow the crowd to decide the most stylish male and most stylish female. Both winners will receive $75,000 cash.

At the finals, the six winners from the three events will go up against the two most stylish found at the finale event and the two most stylish Campari Social Media fans. The 10 finalists (5 males and 5 females) must out-style their competition for two to be named Most Stylish Male and Most Stylish female and win $250,000 each.

Guest judges will include Carlton Brown (famed fashion designer), Shanice “Shanzi” Allen (fashionista who won the Female Fashion Icon award at this year’s YVAs), Kim Goodall (Campari billboard beauty), and dancehall star Beenie Man. The main judges are publicist/author Alykhat and designer Balla Shawn.

Style Block Party Dates: Launch in Kingston (Pulse) — Friday, September 29; May Pen (Something Fishy) — Saturday October 14; Montego Bay (Pier 1) — Saturday October 28; and Finals at Kingston (Waterfront) — Saturday November 11.
