Vershon is aiming to make major moves with the single Te Amo, which is geared towards the lucrative Latin American market.

“I am currently working on a number of projects with an emphasis on Te Amo because of the feedback we have been getting. Right now, we will be launching an aggressive promotional campaign around it and other singles heading into the last quarter of the year, so fans can look out for a lot of upcoming activities from me,” he said.

Released on the Dirty Memories riddim for Konsequence Music/J1 Productions, the Inna Real Life singjay noted the record has hit potential, and it is aimed mainly at the female audience.

“The early feedback has been incredible so far; the women are loving this song and they love the Spanish vibe, Te amo, and all that. Right now, Latin America is a huge market for music, that region has seen a surge in Internet use, mobile phone ownership and social networking, so it would be a mistake to ignore that part of the market,” he said.

Last year, a report by PricewaterhouseCoopers suggested that Latin America was set to become the fastest-growing region in the world in terms of spending for media and entertainment over the next five years. Statistics point to an increase in online video consumption and a double-digit increase — 10.6 per cent — in annual spending, including sales of computer electronics, music, film, DVDs and entertainment tickets.

Recently, Vershon had tongues wagging following the release of his controversial track My Success.

“I am making world music, and right now mi just a try tap into several international markets because the work never stops. As an artiste, you can’t allow yourself to be caught up into the hype and the bag of mix-up thing in Jamaica, because the world is out there waiting on some good music,” he said.
