Guns, ammo seized in Westmoreland
TWO firearms and seven cartridges were seized in separate incidents in Westmoreland yesterday.
Reports from the Savanna-la-Mar Police are that about 1:30 am, a team of officers was on an operation on Great George Street when one .45 calibre pistol with five cartridges was found during the search of a motor vehicle. The male driver was subsequently arrested. His identity is being withheld pending further investigations.
In the second incident, which took place about 5:45 am, one Hi-Point pistol was seized at the Tait Cemetery, Dalling Street.
Police were conducting operations in the area when an area of the cemetery was searched and the weapon, along with two .45 cartridges, was found beside a grave.
Investigations continue.
