Desmond Gordon lands 151lb marlin to cop Port Antonio Canoe tourney
Port Antonio , Portland — Fisherman Desmond Gordon topped the 33rd Port Antonio Canoe Tournament at the Ole Marina in Port Antonio recently to walk away with the Gulf Stream Petroleum-Texaco Portland Chamber of Commerce Trophy and $80,000.
Gordon, landed a 151lb marlin on his canoe My Time from Port Antonio to knock out St Ann’s Stuart Murdock on Fish Rascal, who had earlier landed a 110lb marlin.
Gordon was ecstatic. “This is a good catch for me; it bit early and we helped on and brought it in. I am happy to win,” he said.
Second-placed finisher Stuart Murdock had mixed reactions. “As he touched the hook he connected right away and I pulled him in just after nine and we came in. I was third before and now second and I think I was winning until that one came in,” he said.
