Cavalier look to keep good form flowing
Promoted Cavalier SC will look to extend their recent good form when they take on struggling Boys’ Town FC as action continues in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL).
Match time is set for 3:00 pm today at Boys’ Town’s adopted home at Barbican Sports Complex.
The youthful Cavalier team, which lost its first two games in a slow start to the 2017-18 football season, has won three of the last five outings to climb to fifth place with 10 points from seven games.
Cavalier’s most recent encounter—a midweek clash—ended in a 2-0 triumph over visitors Humble Lion FC.
Boys’ Town, who have failed to win in their last four fixtures, are hovering just above the relegation zone. They are 10th in the 12-team league standing with five points from six outings.
Their last encounter saw them being blown away 0-3 by hosts Harbour View FC.
In another game this afternoon, second-placed University of the West Indies (UWI) FC, who are on 14 points, host fourth-placed Harbour View (10 points) . The contest is slated to start 3 o’ clock at Mona Bowl.
Also at 3:00 pm, hosts Humble Lion and first-timers Sandals South Coast FC, the two teams currently occupying relegation places, meet at Effortville Community Centre in Clarendon. Humble Lion are 11th with five points, while Sandals, yet to record their maiden victory in the nation’s top flight, are 12th with three points.
An interesting match-up is on the cards when seventh-placed Reno FC (nine points) entertain fellow former champions Portmore United in yet another 3:00 pm start at Frome Sports Complex in Westmoreland. Portmore, who led the league table earlier in the season, are third with 13 points from six games, and they could regain pole position if they win and results in other games favour them.
At 6:30 pm, ninth-placed Waterhouse FC (seven points) take on sixth-placed Tivoli Gardens FC (nine points) at Drewsland Stadium.
In tomorrow’s Monday Night fixture, former winners Montego Bay United travel to Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex to take on current RSPL title holders Arnett Gardens FC. Kick-off is slated for 8:35.
Montego Bay, unbeaten in their last three games, are in eighth place with eight points, while Arnett Gardens are top of the pile with 15 points.
