Relay for Life in Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth — The St Elizabeth branch of the Jamaica Cancer Society will hold its third annual Relay for Life — an activity aimed at raising awareness about cancer as well as money to fight the disease — on November 18.

Organisers say the event will take place at the Social Development Commission (SDC) field (Santa Cruz Community Centre) starting at 6:00 pm.

Proceeds will be used to provide financial assistance to individuals with their treatment and cancer medication costs, as well as the cancer society’s education, counselling and outreach programmes.

Organisers say Relay for Life events increase awareness about cancer and the importance of early detection and healthy lifestyle practices.

Jamaica Cancer Society is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation with a mission “to eliminate cancer as a major health problem in Jamaica” through cancer education, counselling and outreach initiatives.
