Weed-smuggling district constable for sentencing next year
A district constable who admitted to smuggling ganja in a prison cell, will have to contemplate his freedom over the Christmas season.
Dale Edwards, 57, pleaded guilty to possession of ganja and introducing contraband in a penal institution when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Thursday.
According to the Denham Town police, around 9:35 am on the day in question, Edwards, who was assigned to the Horizon Adult Remand Centre on Spanish Town Road, Kingston, was in the process of entering a cell when he was stopped and searched.
At that time it was revealed that one parcel of ganja that was wrapped with masking tape was found inside his shoes.
When the matter was called up on Thursday, Edwards’ bail was extended for him to return to court on February 13. A social inquiry report was also requested.
